UNAMA: Taliban-Pakistan Clashes in Kandahar Leave 17 Dead and 346 Injured

The United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) reports that clashes between Taliban fighters and Pakistani forces in Kandahar have left 17 civilians dead and 346 others injured.

In a statement released on Thursday, October 16, UNAMA added that these casualties occurred in the Spin Boldak district of Kandahar province.

The office further noted that fighting in the provinces of Kunar, Paktia, Helmand, and Paktika has resulted in one death and 16 injuries.

UNAMA welcomed the temporary ceasefire reached between the Taliban and Pakistani forces.

The office did not comment on casualties from the airstrike explosions in Kabul.

Emergency Hospital in Kabul reported last night that 40 injured individuals were admitted, five of whom have died.
